Spurs canvas showing the cleaning of the famous Spurs cockerel in 1909Dimensions 60cm x 40cm This amazing canvas shows the old Cockerel being cleaned. The copper centrepiece was made and fixed to the mock tudor gable of the new West stand in November 1909 by William Jones Scott of Edmonton. It remained there until the summer of 1934 when the west stand roof was renewed. Due to extra floodlighting the cockerel was removed from the West Stand gable in 1957. It was not until December 1958 that it reappeared on the opposite side of the ground, perched on top of the East Stand. In 1989 our trusted friend was removed yet again as the East stand was refurbished. The Cockerel now proudly sits in White Hart Lane.
